We both enjoyed the cruise very much. I thought we would be having some free time but the entire cruise kept us quite busy. I have to say that I was initially quite worried as this is my first cruise but the whole journey was calm and smooth so I really did not suffer any bad effects during the entire cruise.

We joined 3 optional packages which were the 3 Kingdoms On Fire, White Emperor City and the Ship Lift. All of them were well organised and despite the rain during the visit to the White Emperor City, all of them were very enjoyable. Because of the 3 optional tours that we joined, we were also given a free visit to the ship's Captain's control room worth CNY 100.

We are very happy with the good service and communication provided by you during the pre-tour, purchase process and clear details provided making us confident to travel to Chongqing without joining a group tour from Malaysia. The ship staff were quite surprised that a Malaysian senior couple were travelling on their own as they used to receive a lot of Malaysians on group tours not privately.

We would like to express our utmost appreciation to you for making this cruise a memorable experience.

Everything went smoothly as planned. The guides provided were excellent, Timu our guide at Xian was exceptional. All the guides spoke good English and had very good knowledge of the area and the history associated.

The cruise was also amazing. The food was delicious and the scenery was really beautiful. We have no problem communicating because there are crews on board that can speak good English.

We will come back to visit other parts of China in near future.

We very much enjoyed the cruise thank you. Especially made welcome by Austin on the boat who looked after us English speakers extremely well. The room was comfortable and all the activities very appropriate and well organised. We also used the swimming pool on the boat twice or more times.

The documentary about the three gorges shown in the cinema the night before our visit there was excellent in helping us to understand what happened with the dam. It could have been better publicized but we managed to get there and really enjoyed. However the visitor site of the dam needs to have more English captions for us to really appreciate. We were surprised how little English translation there was at the biggest dam in the world.

The place where you embark on the boat in Chong Qing was more difficult than I had imagined - there was nowhere really to park. Not sure what you could do as a solution for that?!

Thank you for following up with us. Crystal and I had a great time on the trip. The trips you helped plan and booked for us went really well as planned.

The tour guide David and Sally are both very friendly and knowledgeable about the tour sites. The Chongqing Metropolitan Hyatt hotel is at a very nice location, walking distance to the Hongya Cave. We enjoyed the great night view of the cave, river and Chongqing. Crystal even did customized photo shoots.

The cruise ship Century Oasis is very nice as well, including nice room, delicious food, spa, top deck and their staff are very friendly and attentive to the guests. The off shore attraction tours are well organized, and we joined the English group. Crystal is amazed at the Feng Yan San Guo Show, very much interested in the Chinese culture. We enjoyed the great views along the river, and got lucky in seeing the water discharge of the three Gorges Dan. Overall we had a wonderful tour and cruise! We really appreciate your great service, excellent communication and very attentive to our needs.

Our trip was beyond wonderful. Everything was so thoroughly organized, the tour guides were incredible (especially Linda in Beijing, Kimi in Xi'an, and Kenny in Guilin), vehicles and drivers safe and comfortable, and hotels centrally located in each city, comfortable, and clean. The sites were all wonderful and there isn't one I wouldn't recommend. My mom and I have both fallen in love with China and appreciate yalls help and support during our trip (especially with all the snafus of losing my passport and getting sick). I will definitely recommend yalls services to family and friends, and when I come back to China will be contacting yall again

Absolutely fantastic, can’t fault. On board food was awesome and me being vegetarian they even made me special meals each day. Staff were wonderful. I also had laundry done, no issues and very good price. Bar was well stocked and well priced. I also got a foot massage and my daughters hair washed and blow dried also value for money.

Concierge did only once on check in to offer an upgraded package for food and cabin. Then never asked again which was perfect.

Porters hired by ship in Chongqing tried to charge me 100rmb for their service but the English speaking concierge told them off very sternly.

Shore excisions included were awesome. I only did 1 optional which was the show on the second night which was absolutely amazing, it felt like I was in the show.

Only complaint is the ships announcements came into cabin speakers.

Everything went well and the staff was very helpful! Maybe the lunch and dinner were a bit crowded, so we had to upgrade to a VIP restaurant and then it was ok. We were not used to travel in a group when go to sightseeing but at the end it was fun. We were very satisfied with the cruise it was clean and new and strictly non smoking! By the way, we are leaving China for good in a couple weeks, since our 4 years contract has come to an end! Yes we are home safely after an enjoyable, busy 3 weeks travelling around China.

Thank you for putting together such an interesting tour. The time passed so quickly. Had we not been on a 3 week time line I would have added a rest day every 3-4 days. That would have been a good addition.

The hotels were all lovely. I liked those that had a bath best, because after an energetic day walking, one could soak the muscles and rest for a while.

We loved travelling in the trains. Thanks for organising the comfortable upgrades.

I am glad our guides met us at the stations & dropped us off though. The stations are huge and finding the right platform was made easier with the guides help.

We had minor problems.

1. Shanghai- There are 2 exits and we went to the wrong one. However we rang the guide and then we found one another.

2. Another, was when we missed the transit sign & walked the wrong way following the crowd. Fortunately Bruce noticed & helped us get to the right place so we could get the connecting train in time.

3. My seat was already taken on one of the trains. I was advised by the conductor to walk through the train to carriage 8, get off, and get on again. There were 2 trains joined together. I wasn’t sure if the train would wait for me as they only stop for a minute! Fortunately the staff were very helpful getting me off, and getting me on again. They seated me next to Bill.

The tourist attractions we visited were outstanding. Everything we saw was worthwhile. We loved the spectacular Stage Shows.

We loved the cruise. We made new friends, had a lot of shipboard fun. The concierge and other staff were lovely.

Our guides were friendly, helpful and really good company.

We are happy to see how well China is going with trains, stations , roads, housing. National Parks and environmental protection. Good job!

We would recommend your Tour Company should anyone ask . We were very happy with everything.

All being well, we will return to do the other half of the original trip.

Thank you so much for reaching out. I apologize for the delay, we have been very busy in our last few weeks of our China trip.

In regards to feedback for the 12-day cruise, it was fantastic. We were the only people on the boat who didn't speak Chinese and yet we felt so welcome and included. The staff (whether they spoke any English or not) went out of their way to treat us with kindness and incredible hospitality. One of the cruise managers, Leila, often came and interpreted for us exclusively while the other cruise manager was explaining things in Chinese. The tours were fantastic. We were able to learn so much about the different areas that we visited and every location was beautiful. And the food! Everything we ate was delicious. The chefs did an amazing job in providing wonderful food for every meal.

We have one very strange request. Whilst on the boat, there was a sauce there called noodle companion. If you could put us in touch with anyone who might know the recipe, we would be so grateful. We've been trying to find it on our whole trip through China because it was so delicious.

All in all, this was amazing experience and one of the best things we did in China. Thank you again for helping us organize it and please let us know if there's anything else you need from us.

In addition to all of the sights on our itinerary and the fantastic acrobatic show we saw in Beijing and the extraordinary light show we saw in Guilin, we were also fortunate enough to have Linda recommend to us the AMAZING Shu Feng Ya Yun Sezchuan Opera show last night, just a short walk from our hotel, which was one of the best shows we have ever seen!! The shadow puppets and mask-changing were especially incredible! And yes we did receive yesterday the BEAUTIFUL gifts you sent us - thank you so much - we love the pandas and will treasure them always!

Ok, my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise - we upgraded the room which we thot was very good and very well maintained. Even the bath towels are of good quality!

Special mention to our guide Lawrence from the ship - he was assigned to assist us since he could speak English - he was very good and made sure we understood the detailed itinerary. We’re very glad that he was there to help us all along the trip!

We think the pace of the tours were good, and the processes and organisation for embarkation etc were very well thought out, planned and executed. We also enjoyed the narration when the ship cruised through the gorges, I think it was also Lawrence who read out the English descriptions of the cruise and the features that we were passing.

If there was one complaint, perhaps it was that there are not enough lifts in the ship and they didn’t go to the top floor. I think this is especially for older tourists like me!

Firstly, I must said you are very responsible and trustworthy. As this was the first time we got China Discovery to arrange the above tour,

Highly Recommended for your reliability and the excellent service provided.

It was unfortunate that our trip coincided with China May Day holiday as most places of interests were crowded.

My personal opinion, the program could have been better spaced out especially for seniors.

The train from Chongqing to Xian arrived almost at midnight and we reached hotel about 1am. The departure from hotel to see the Terracotta the next morning was 06:30am. Too tight, we barely had 4hrs of sleep. It would be better if the visit to the Terracotta is in late morning or early afternoon. Unfortunately, my wife and I were unable to join the visit to see the terracotta as we find it very tiring after the long train journey from Chongqing. Had to give it a miss.

However, we did enjoy the Beijing tour very much especially with your guide Mr Jackson Liu. He was very cheerful and knowledgeable. Also very helpful.

Overall it was a very enjoyable trip and will definitely recommend my friends to seek your assistance if they are planning a China trip, My wife and myself will definitely engage your services in the near future for our next China tour.

the cruise was wonderful and perfectly organized. The best things were:

- perfect organization,

- nice Amie, who made me feel welcome,

- very good food; there were enough healthy things for me f.e. salad, fruits, vegetables,

- cappuccino in the bar

- perfect organized (optional) tours

There are some things I would change if I were you:

- Cappuccino should be included and available for breakfast ( I had to ask twice and then they brought it (for € 5, what is very expensive; the other days I went to the bar myself);

- my neighbours (cabin 408) were strong smokers and were smoking on the balcony all the time. The smoke came over to me (when the boat moves), so I couldnt sit on the balcony. Non-smoking should mean, that it is not for smokers. In Germany smoking is out and the people think very much about health. Moreover they were talking at 4.30 h, so I couldnt sleep anymore.

- the announcements in the cabin are annoying. I dont need it. The schedule is enough. I asked them to turn off the announcements and they did :-)

So, it was a wonderful experience and everything worked well.

Sorry for this late reply. I had a very busy day today running errands here and there, so many things to attend to after my return from China!

The Dazu tour was great! David was a great English speaking guide and he took care to go through with us the history of Dazu Rock & The Beishan Carvings. He was very knowledgeable, nice and friendly. Then he took us to a nearby Restaurant for our lunch, the food was good and the price was reasonable. Unfortunately we couldn't converse much with the driver as he can't speak english and our Chinese was quite limited but he was very pleasant and nice. The car was nice, clean and comfortable. All in all, we had a great day!

Oh, we enjoyed the Yangtze Cruise too ... there were a lot of activities to do on board if we chose not to join in the excursions. 4 days 3 nights just flew by so fast, which meant, we had a great time. The Officers and Staff on board the cruise were very welcoming, friendly and helpful, which made our stay very nice and comfortable.

The transfer from Yichang Three Gorges Dam Centre to Yichang East Railway Station went smoothly and without any problem. With the help of the Cruise Manager Allan and Vivian from your side, we were able to finalise the final details of the transfer. We arrived at the Yichang East Railway Station at about 13:30, with plenty of time to spare before our train left for Chongqing at 14:45.

As for the train tickets, thank you very much for your patience and your time in getting us the train tickets back to Chongqing on the 30 April, at no extra costs. It was a very great relief when we heard that!

All in all, we were very happy with your services! Both you and Jason were very professional and were there to help us with our itinerary along the way and everything went well as planned. I would definitely be in touch again when I plan my next trip to China.

Yangtze River Cruise could be better if the weather was great. We love our room though however should improve on sound proofing the room. Guide Betty for White Emperor City spoke excellent English. We were disappointed with the dual language guide for Three Gorges Dam Project. He spoke Mandarin most of the time and we could barely understand!

We are very sad that our trip is coming to an end. So far we have had a fantastic time and seen and done some amazing things.

I had a bit of spare time on the high-speed train so came up with this to help your customers. Up to you if you want to use it or make any adjustments (but I think it would be most helpful once people have booked) it reads as follows...

As part of your journey around fascinating and spectacular China, you will most likely take one or more of China Railways High Speed Trains.

These trains are both fast and efficient, enabling you to cover great distances quickly and in comfort.

You may be required to board the train without the assistance of a guide. This may occur depending on station regulations.

The following is suggested as information for travelers. Please note that this is not a definitive guide, as there may be differences depending on station and location, and may be subject to change.

First and most importantly, there are plenty of clean toilets at the stations, and the trains also have Western toilets in each carriage.

Whether you travel First or Second Class is up to you, but there is plenty of leg room in both classes. All trains are non smoking.

AT THE STATION.

Once at the station you will be required to go through security. You will need your passport for this. Your passport is linked to your ticket. We recommend wheeled suitcases or suchlike as luggage trolleys are not provided. Please note that your main bag will travel with you on the train. Unlike a plane where certain items can travel in the hold, prohibited items will be confiscated. Eg. Knives or souvenir swords.Check ahead for prohibited items to avoid disappointment.

You will need your passport, the train number, carriage number and seat allocation for your journey. This will be provided by your guide or on your itinerary. It will also pay to know your departure time.

There are departure boards in multiple places in the stations. These will link your train number with a boarding gate.

Your trains details will be in one of 3 colours.

Yellow: information stage

Green: boarding stage

Red: departure stage.

In order to run efficiently the trains do not wait. Please be in the correct place ready to board. Depending on the number of train carriages, there may be 2 boarding gates. Eg. 4A and 4B. These will correspond to the carriage number. Don't panic if you get it wrong, but it may result in having to walk a little further on the platform to get to your carriage.

You will need your passport to leave the station to go to the platform. There are lines for self check-in and another for passports/ assisted check-in. This may be detailed overhead, or look for the person manning the assisted check-in line. Use this line to proceed to the platform.

PLATFORM / TRAIN

If no train in platform: There are markings on the ground showing the approximate carriage location. You should wait there. If in doubt you can ask for help.

If train is at platform: Check the train number on the side of carriage.(in case two trains either side of platform)

Find your carriage number and board. Seat numbers are clearly labeled. Place your big luggage overhead. Some trains have additional storage at carriage end. Do not store drink bottles overhead as they may leak, due to cabin pressure.

Depending on the length of your journey some basic food may be available (cashless transactions.) You can take your own food if you wish. Hot water is also available on board.

Enjoy your safe and comfortable journey. Be sure to take in the scenery as you travel.

ARRIVAL

Not all train services may terminate at your destination. The next station is shown on a display at both carriage ends (in English also) . Knowing your arrival time will further assist you in getting off at the correct station.

If you are being met at the station your previous guide should give you directions where to meet, as the stations are normally large with multiple exits. You can also have your next guides name and phone number if you wish. You will need your passport again to exit the station terminal, at the manned checkout line.

Depending on the station layout you will be met at the terminal exit, or the arranged location. Your happy, smiling guide will have your name on a signboard to welcome you, and be ready to assist as required.

The tour was EXCELLENT!

Jamie in Beijing was a 10 Star Guide, the best guide I have ever experienced. (I have used about 40 guides in the last 6 years.) He spoiled us with his attention to details and his concern for our interest. He arranged for a wheelchair for me on the 2nd day as I was having an issue walking that day. It was a temporary issue, but Jamie was the one that suggested get a wheelchair and he pushed me around all day. All the other guides did an excellent job. The tours selected were very good and we enjoyed all the attractions.

When we arrived in Chengdu, our guide, Bay had presents (Chopsticks, Bookmarks, & Panda Bears) for us and that was appreciated by the wives.

All the hotels were 4 stars and we enjoyed each and everyone. Novotel Xinqiao was our favorite.

The restaurants and homes that we visited were very good.

The river cruise was very nice, we upgraded to premium cabins once we got on the boat at a much less cost than if we had booked the premium cabins in the beginning. The food on the boat was ok, but we felt it could have been much better.

The transportation was very good with plenty of room for the 6 of us and baggage.

The pickups and drop offs were good

After each guide we were asked to fill out a rating sheet and give it back to the guide, I personally would prefer a different way of giving my review. It was uncomfortable handing the guide back an evaluation, even though our evaluations were very good. Maybe an email survey after each hand off.

I would recommend that China Discovery raise the suggested tip amount for your guides. We tipped 3 to 4 times the suggested amount but others may not.

The other tour companies I have used in the last 2 years have suggested (US Dollar) $8 to $10 per day per person for the guide and $5 to $7 per day for the driver.

I was very pleased with the quality of the hotels, meals, guides, transportation and communication.

Jason, the guide in Chengdu was excellent. Highly recommend him. Cathy in Shanghai, Yolin in Zhangjijai and David in Chongqing were also good.

I suggest that for future clients please include Tibet Museum in the itenrary. It is very close to Potola Palace. We were able to spend an hour there. Requires at least 3 hours.

The lunch provided by the guides were generally good. Two of our party are vegetarian. The guides could order appropriate dishes for them.

I would recommend your company and you to our friends for their China travel needs

The tour in China was superb, I enjoyed each and every moment, all of the guides were great and helped me with the trains. Thank goodness I had your contact those couple of times I or the guide was in the wrong spot for pick up! But that’s part of the adventure.

I would have like to have had more time or a short trip in Shanghai at the end just to see the highlights like the Bund.

I was disappointed with the pandas in Chengdu as I thought they were in the wild or semi wild and not in the zoo, however that is my fault for not asking the question before hand or doing more research.

Yes, Phoebe Gao was very responsive and helped me to join a spring Yangtze cruise from Yichang to Chongqing. She is very thorough and promptly and answered my numerous questions.

2. How’s the service of the President No.8 cruise during your whole tour?
The ship's staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the cruise director who was my English speaking contact. The buffet meals were delicious and had a good variety of choices.

3. Would you like to recommend our company?

As for your questions, here is my response:

1A: Wing Zeng always responds to our emails very promptly. At the beginning when I planned to book the cruise, Wing Zeng has been very patient to respond to all my questions about the cruise itinerary and the cabin types. I am very happy with her service.

2A: With Wing Zeng's help, our tour arrangements were very smooth. Our family travel with one senior and one small child, so we were very careful about transportation to and from the port. On the day of embarkation, Wing Zeng helped us book a van transfer directly from our hotel in Jingzhou to the port, which made the embarkation process very smooth and enjoyable.

3A: Definitely. I highly recommend your service to anyone who wants to take the Yangtze cruises.

4A: I'm very satisfied with your service. Our travel consultant is very helpful and professional.

5A: It would be nice if you could give a little warning that the water level in Chongqing might be too low around this time of year. Originally, our cruise was scheduled to end at Chongqing Chaotianmen port. But because of the low water level, we had to disembark somewhere else and took a 2-hour drive to Chaotianmen. The cruise arranges the transfer smoothly and it worked out fine in the end. But if this is something that happens usually around this time of year, it would be nice to be given a little warning beforehand.

1. Is your travel consultant of our company fast enough to answer your E-mail and patient enough to answer your questions?
You have always been very fast in replying to us…….usually within 24hours. When you were going to be unable to do so because of personal commitments or the Spring Festival, you let us know and replied as soon as possible after that. We have been impressed with your efficiency and thorough answers to our questions. When we had difficulty in finding a suitable way to pay because of very different systems in China and UK, you gave us different options and provided all the information we needed. It has been easy to communicate with you and we have been very happy with your service.

2. How is tour arrangement, including the drivers,tour guides,hotels,etc?
Tour Arrangement: The itinerary was so interesting, varied and well planned. We were able to visit the famous places in your country such as Tian’anmen Square, The Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors etc but also places that are less well known to people in the West. All the journeys between cities were carefully arranged and the timing was good. The train journeys were excellent but we found the stations a little confusing, particularly Wuhan. It would have been really helpful if the Guides could have come into the stations with us as we speak no Chinese. Sally in Yichang helped us enormously by writing out in Chinese all the information we needed in Wuhan. We were able to show this to a member of station staff who helped us find the train. It was a very busy 10 days and it might have been good to have a little more ‘free time’ but then we would not have seen as much!
Tour Guides and Drivers: The drivers were all good and helpful. We found the Buick cars quite difficult to get in and out of, particularly from the back seats. The Guides were all great and their English was extremely good. Jack (Beijing), Johanna (Pingyao) and Timo (Xi’an) were fantastic. Their knowledge about all the places was incredible and they were able to explain it all well. They were helpful in explaining and ordering lunch and in understanding our needs eg finding an ATM. They were also flexible in helping with problems eg when our friend needed to see a Chinese Herbalist. We enjoyed talking with the Guides very much.
Hotels: The hotels in Beijing and Xi’an were very good. David and I liked the hotel in Pingyao because it was different and less Western. However, we’re sure that some Westerners would not have liked it and it might be good if you told guests in the itinerary that this was a more typical Chinese hotel. There was no Western-style coffee at breakfast there. The Yangtze Gold cruise ship was ok but we saw much smarter ships on the river. The cabin and facilities were acceptable. We can see that the ship mainly caters for Eastern guests and their cultural expectations which we were happy to accept for a few days but it would be worth noting that Western guests like more flexible dining times, better entertainment and a greater sense of luxury. As all the ports where the ship stopped (except the final port) were deep in the gorge and there were many steps up from the river, this should be noted in the itinerary as some people would not be able to climb up.

3. Would you like to recommend our company?
We would be very happy to recommend China Discovery.

4. Points that your company might find helpful for Western guests.
• It is VERY expensive for Westerners to use their mobile phones abroad so most travellers prefer not to make or receive calls. They do not have wifi unless they are in a hotel etc so communication with Guides is difficult when travelling etc. Western guests might be advised to have a VPN or buy a Chinese SIM card. They might also be advised to download WeChat for easy communication.
• We do not use Alipay or WeChat in the West so this is an unfamiliar way of paying/transferring money. However this is essential in China as most places do not accept western credit cards.

Thank you for arranging our holiday in China which was both educational and extremely enjoyable. I address the questions you ask on behalf of Jean and myself; I expect David and Sue will respond separately. I am not the photographer in the family. Jean will select some photographs to send you.

You always fully answered our questions overnight UK time so we had the answer the following morning. You were equally prompt when we were in China.

2. How is tour arrangement, including the drivers, tour guides, hotels, etc?
The tour arrangements were excellent, as were all the guides. Jack in particular was outstanding. The one criticism we would make was I your guide in Wuhan, with whom we had no contact, should have given you better advice to pass on about our the layout of the station at Wuhan. We didn’t realise on arrival for some ten minutes that arrivals and departures were on different floors in the manner of an airport. We ended up cutting it extremely fine to catch the train. We could well have lost it if you had not had the foresight to ask Sally to give us questions in Chinese which we took to the service desk.
The accommodation was excellent., although it might be advantageous to advise clients that the hotel in Pingyao is a historic building ,which is full of character but lacks the amenities of a modern hotel which they may prefer. The one disappointment was the boat, which was in need of refurbishment. While the quality of the food in the buffets was good, it was seldom other than lukewarm. There was a very limited range of equipment in the gym. It was difficult not to feel envious of passengers on Victoria Sabrina which we accompanied downstream.

3. Would you like to recommend our company?
100% - without hesitation. I am sure you personally will be approached by our friends for assistance when they visit China, which we will encourage them to do.

I finally recovered from the long flights and the 12 hour-time difference with Florida. I first of all would like to thank you for such a great job before and during my trip. You answered all of my questions and gave me peace of mind since I was traveling all by myself so far away from home. Alipay was a great suggestion because it not only helped with paying for just about anything but also kept us in touch throughout my trip with their chat feature. The trip you put together for me was exceptional, and along with some of the optional tours we added, and the cruise ship you picked made for a superb experience.

The hotels were very good, well located and clean, I was just a bit disappointed that most of the staff in the majority of hotels, even at the front desk, didn't speak English, but I was able to communicate through translation apps. The guides were excellent, their English was very good, they were very knowledgeable, attentive, flexible, and very helpful; what I'm very thankful for is that whenever I had train rides they helped me all the way into the train car, with my luggage and finding my seat, that meant a lot because without knowing Chinese I surely would have missed the train or gotten into the wrong one, they also gave me instructions as which way to go once I arrived to my destination to meet the guide. I particularly enjoyed Linda, Kenny, the guide in Chongqing, and Eileen. The vehicles and drivers were also very good.

The cruise ship couldn't have been better, the staff and local guides with the exception of the very last one (I already contacted the cruise ship regarding this issue) were friendly and very very nice. There were very few non Chinese-speaking passengers and I felt that the cruise director made sure to take care of us at all times. They had shows, optional tours and activities that I enjoyed thoroughly.

The only flaw was the last night in Xi'an, the Airport Hotel was actually NOT within walking distance so I needed to take a shuttle which was provided by the hotel and had a little difficulty communicating with the driver to give him the instructions as to where I needed to be dropped off, but I made it!!!

I will be glad to recommend your company. I loved my China trip and if I had to do it all over again I wouldn't think twice about contacting you and China Discovery!!!! Well done Tracy!

The only downside was that when the day tour in Chongqing was cut down to a half day, the tour guide still sent us back to the cruise quite early at 4pm.

The weather of Jiuzhaigou was great. Not sunny, but slight sun, experience a little light snow on Long Lake, and beautiful masterpiece of creation in JZG. Huanglong was wonderful too. Nice weather. Even with the cable car, we walked a total of 16000 steps. Unforgettable 2 days

Century Oasis - it's new and we were given 3rd Level, but only dine in one restaurant. Still it's good. Allan, the Cruise manager took good care of us as we were the only few that requires English guides.

Nancy swiftly took action and changed our flight from Wuhan-Guangzhou and rushed us to the train station to take the high speed train to Wuhan. It has been a long-time ambition of mine to visit your country and as I was invited for a work event this provided the opportunity for me to extend my stay. The panda keeper experience day was incredible and hugely enjoyable, it was an honour to be able to assist in even a small way with the care of these incredible animals.

Yes we had a great time thank you. We were grateful for the upgraded cabins. We enjoyed the underwater museum and evening show excursions very much. The sky road was also enjoyable. The lesser three gorges excursion was quite long, if we had known how long it was going to be we may have decided to skip it, or at least go prepared with drinks etc.

The lead tour guide on board was great. Although we were a bit disappointed there was no real farewell. The final day felt very rushed. It seemed like there was more to do at the three gorges dam like the underwater gallery but we didn't have the time to see it.

The service onboard was very good. Very attentive staff. Given the price I would have expected a bit better quality food. The select was good but often the buffet items had gone cold and weren't replaced with fresh. I think a better selection of wines, including a nicer house wine would help attract more western guests too.

We enjoyed the trip very much, both cruise and Chongqing tours. The ship was fine and new. The food was reasonably good. The guides were excellent. Crew were helpful.

I would prefer slightly better hotels during Chongqing trip, especially in Wulong. The breakfast could be better.

Also a list of recommended restaurants for the dinner could be useful.

Overall we had a great time and would be happy to use your company service for our future trips in China.

On hotels you made very good choices only one I would change was the Intercontinental Tibet which my wife wanted to stay in , problem far from center of town, we chose not to do some sites because we had seen before on previous trips, that’s what great about private tours we can change itinerary, Leo you provided great service thank you.

Feedback for Zhangjiajie

o Guide: Lilly was a great guide, first she thought we will be quicker but with Ruby walking a lot or carrying her, we were slower than other groups. She adapted quickly and changed the plans according to our needs, which was really nice. She was a great guide with lots of knowledge, good English and she even took care of Ruby some times.

o Hotel: The Pullman, breakfast was ok not really good and as there were a lot of Chinese groups it was crowded. Room was ok but a bit outdated. The baby bed was not good, it was for really small babies (who cannot walk or stand) and one wheel was broken. We adapted it and it was ok for the 2 nights.

o Attractions: These two days were amazing, the glass bridge and the river tour was nice even the walk along the river was great. The national park (with avatar mountains) on second day was also really cool and Lilly also guided us through less crowded places. We were quite tired in the end but it was really worth it.

o Restaurants: Both were fine, we liked the second one better. The first one all dishes were cooked with lots of Oil. And actually for us it was way too much food. but maybe other people eat more.

o Car and Driver: Both were good and nice

Feedback for Chongqing

o Guide: Jim was always a bit stressful and hectic. His English was good. We think he really tried hard to satisfy us, but for us it sometimes felt too much, on the first night he arranged a hotpot for us which was great.

o Attractions: Houses in the Hill at the riverfront is really nice and actually I think lots of people would enjoy to walk down the stairs instead of taking the elevator. It would be nice to spend a little more time there and let people wander around. Monorail inside the building we think is ok to see but not really special, could maybe be skipped depending on the group speed. Old town was really nice, I think western people would enjoy to wander around, try food and drinks or buy souvenirs and not just rush through it. Museum is nice to hear and see something about the culture, but as this was our last stop in the city we were tired and had enough after the first floor with the information about the 3 Georges. We asked Jim if we can go to the boat now and he agreed which was great for us.

o Car and Driver: both were good

Feedback for Yangtze River Cruise

We spend a nice time on the boat, the food was good and the rooms were nice. First they just prepared a foldable chair for Ruby as bed, but after we asked for a real baby bed they put one in our room. That was great.

o Trips general: for us it was great that there were mostly two trips a day one in the morning and one in the afternoon. So Ruby was able to do her nap in the room. The service staff on the boat was great too, they always helped and suggested us if we should go on the additional trip or if it is better for us to walk around on our own.

o First day trip morning: We actually left the guide at the temple because the speed was also not suitable for us. And obviously the other part of the group was quicker than us with Ruby. But it was fine for us like this. We were able to look at all the things in our speed.

o First day trip evening (optional): We didn´t go to the show, because Ruby goes to bed around 7:30pm and someone had to stay with her. But we enjoyed the dinner and drinks and music in the bar.

o Second Day morning (optional): White Emperor city was not recommended to us, so we didn´t participate. We still left the boat and just walked around the harbor, there was also and old city wall and a white tower, which was nice to explore for 1-2 hours. Then we went back on the boat

o Second Day afternoon Boat trip: that was really nice and great to see. Ruby also enjoyed the ride a lot. The tour guide spoke great English.

o Third Day: Checkout, it was a bit surprising that we should give all our big luggage’s already the evening before we left the boat to the boat staff. Which was not possible for us, with having a kid. You have to pack in the morning. But we managed to keep one and give the other one already to the boat staff. Another surprise was that the room cards didn´t work after the breakfast on the last days, they just locked everyone out, so you had to get a staff member to open the door again. Would be nice to inform the people about it or have the room cards work at least until the time when everyone should leave the boat. least

- Dam: It is for sure impressive why they build it and to get to know some information about height and relocation of cities just for this. But to get to the top and walking around there was not really nice, way to many people, it felt like all ships had the same timing so it was super crowded. I think I would maybe skip that but also because we have a small kid and it was a bit overwhelming for her with all the people.

- Guide: Nancy spoke very good English. She was nice but not as friendly and helpful as Lilly

- Restaurant: Good and nice food. But we had to pay for water, but two bottles of beer were included. Which is a bit strange, as we were 4 people and especially one pregnant woman and a kid.

- Attraction: Cave and path around half island, that was nice to see and the good part was most of it was shady.

- Car: it was a fancy car, but too small to fit our luggage (4 Suitcases and a stroller) we had no issues with the other cars. So it was a bit uncomfortable to sit, as one luggage and the stroller had to fit in the area we were sitting

- Driver: Nice and friendly

- If there would have been a flight in the afternoon or earlier in the evening around 6pm that would have been better for us. So it was a really long day.

Whole trip: it was very nice and we would do it again, maybe with some small adaptions. Thanks for organizing it we took a lot of great pictures and created some really nice memories.

Here is a feedback

On the 3rd when we arrived everything run smoothly. There was a girls waiting for us at the airport exit, as told before on phone and SMS wearing a yellow shirt, so easy to recognize.

The drive to the boat was also ok, no problems, it took around 40 minutes. When arriving at the harbor somebody took our luggage and went down to the boat. After registration, all easy, we could board. This was around 3.30 pm, so still quite early.

Merry, the responsible „Concierge“ was friendly and helpful, she guided as to an executive suite on the 5th deck, as promised from you, I think it was 506. Our luggage was already there, the room was as expected.

She asked if we would be interested in a bigger room, as there was still one free. She told us that she wants to show it to us, it was the celebrity suite 588, finally we took it.

The dinner was good while we were running out (it was buffet dinner).

On the 4th we had a stop at Baitao, the 816 engineering scenic area. This one was not very interesting for us. It‘s just an enormous cave, at least it was not as hot as outside…

The lunch was a la carte, and it was the best meal on board. In the evening we went to a show in Zhongxian,“The Beacon of the Three Kingdoms. Even we didn‘t understand a world it was a great and nice show.

On the 5th, after passing the Qutang Gorge, we had a stop in Wushan. There was a nice road trip a long the Wu Gorge with nice spots on the top of the mountain. After lunch on board, we went to the mini three gorges, first with a smaller boat the then with very small boats. Ok, but the last very small boat was not really necessary in our opinion. Back on board we drove the Wu Gorge in our boat.

On the 6th we arrived at our final destination in the morning. We had to be ready with our luggage at 7 am, after talking to Merry I could handle out 7.30…

Later, when we came from breakfast, the luggage was still standing in front of our cabin, this could be optimized…

Only later we found out, that there was a possibility to take the boat lift at 3 Gorges Dam. It was not communicated to us, I would have taken it. So we went by Bus to look to the dam from quite far away…

At 11.30 we went to dinner in Yichang, this was nice again.

Summary

It was a nice trip and we enjoyed it. We were happy that we choose the right suite, so we could have nice views to the Gorges from our balcony.

I am sorry for this late feedback, I had a limited access to my e mails during my stay in China.

My trip in Huangshan was great, I was disappointed because of the weather as the clouds blocked the view most of the 2 days. But nobody can t do anything about it! Aside from that, Jessica was really nice and her English was perfect. The hotel and the room were nice, it was very well organized! Thank you for this. I also want to thank you for your availability in answering all the questions I had before I leave.

The only point I would suggest for improvement is maybe include some information on how taking a train in China works. It s not complicated at all, but as I had never done it before, I was a bit stressed about how long it would take me once in the train station. So maybe just say that you have some ID controls (with special lines for foreigners) and luggage controls and that s it, would have reassured me I think!

But this suggestion is only a comment to make the experience even better, it was already really greatly organized!

We all arrived home safely on late Thursday evening 8 June.

Overall it was an interesting and enjoyable holiday for us. We all had a wonderful time on the cruise. From cleanliness of rooms to meals arrangements and entertainment programs it’s a thumbs up from us.

We have arrived safely to Kuwait and are now cherishing our memories of China. We had a very positive impression of the country and its people in terms of organization, cleanliness, friendliness, beauty and convenience. We would definitely recommend your company to our family and friends. We were well cared for by your guides, which made us feel safe and comfortable the whole time. Regarding your specific questions, we have these remarks:

1. Most definitely Mr. Wonder Wang was quick to answer our many questions. He offered valuable advice and was patient through multiple emails between our first point of contact a month before departure, during the tour of China, and until we returned home.

2. The service of the guides was generally very good. They gave us insight into the history and culture of China, and explained the significance of sites along the way. We also felt safe with the designated drivers. At the end of each guide's service, (s)he asked us to fill a questionnaire, and we can see why this is important. Generally our comments were very positive, but we did not have time to adequately assess one guide who was not at the usual standard for this company. His English name is Waldener. We felt he slacked in sharing beneficial knowledge of his city, instead joking around and showing off his knowledge of American history and culture. He was too familiar for our taste and his comments were often immodest. We feel he might benefit from more cultural sensitivity training. The remaining tour guides were very engaging, knowledgeable, dignified and helpful. Jack (in Beijing), in particular, was exemplary in friendliness and helpfulness.

We also have a couple other minor comments. The cruise ship had very little and usually no Internet connection, which was frustrating. On the other hand, the cruise manager kindly asked us about any dietary restrictions and made sure we had food that met our requirements. Likewise, two of the tour guides understood that we only eat halal meat and took us to a halal restaurant for lunch -- this unexpected consideration was highly appreciated. (This is a very important service for most of your future Middle-Eastern guests!!)

here is a quick review of our tour on Victory Jenna.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your time and effort in selecting and booking the most appropriate tour, then cancelling due to schedule issues, rebooking, then cancelling and rebooking due to COVID issues! You also alerted us to the need for province-specific health codes and pre-embarkation testing, and kept in touch during the cruise.

On arrival, we decided to upgrade our cabins to the 5th floor suites. We also upgraded our meals to the 6th floor dining room. As a result, we had a genuinely 5-star cruise experience. The staff and crew were welcoming and friendly, most of them spoke English, and the service was impeccable. The food was varied and delicious. The standard of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas was very high.

The included excursion to the Three Gorges Dam was not very interesting for me, although the optional trip in the ship lift was a great experience. We all enjoyed the ferry trip up the shennong stream. Unfortunately, foreigners could not join any other optional excursions because they needed a COVID test within 24 hours, which was impossible once on the boat. This meant more time spent on a stationary ship than I would have chosen.

The evening entertainment program was just the staff and crew having to get on stage after a long day's work. They did a great job, and it was fun, but I think the evening program is very much oversold.

I would say early in the season, with 50% occupancy and the option of cheap upgrades, this can be 5 stars. In a regular room on a full ship, probably 3 stars.

Here is my evaluation of the cruise on Century Glory:

Ship and facilities: Overall I was impressed with the design. Unlike almost all of the other Yangtze cruise ships, the interiors are clean and modern, reflecting a fusion of modern Chinese and European aesthetics. The different coloured carpets on each floor were a nice touch. Overall, the ship has modern, but warm, feel to it with well-thought-out spaces such as the Panorama Cafe at the front of the ship, which had full-height wrap-around glass walls and an inviting open deck at the font of the ship which is protected by high glass walls. The open spaces at the top and rear of the ship are also notable. Unlike other ships on the river, the Century Glory was designed to maximize open spaces with generous and comfortable seating. Even when it was raining, the large outdoor sofas (note these are not cheap plastic white chairs, but rather quite comfortable rattan-style sofas with fabric cushions) on the Sun Deck could still be used thanks to the canopies that covered the deck. The VIP Panorama restaurant offered an impressive array of local Chinese and Western dishes of high quality, with various seating options and floor-to-ceiling windows offering excellent scenic views. The cabin, on Deck 6, was quite large and the bathroom had two sinks, which is unusual even on ocean-going cruise ships. Bedding, excellent.

Service: I had no problems with the service, in fact, it was far better than I had expected. As one of 20 foreigners on the ship (out of 500), we were well taken care of and all senior staff knew our names. Although I speak Chinese, English was widely spoken amongst the senior hotel staff of the ship. The Cruise Director had previously worked for Royal Caribbean, and it was evident that the high attention to guest relations--which that company is known for--was something he brought back to Century Cruise Lines. Any problem was solved very quickly.

Shore excursions: I am not a person who does many shore excursions, but the ones I did do were well-organized and efficient. The guides spoke good English and had deep historical knowledge of the sites. Embarkation/disembarkation was smooth.

Overall I would rate the experience on the ship as excellent. I have been on many ocean cruises before, and Century Glory certainly ranks near the top in terms of service, comfort and attention to detail. I highly recommend it.

My only suggestion would be that there be some sort of room service menu available, so you can order food to your cabin in case you don't feel like going to the restaurant or are hungry between meals.

Our five families had a superb trip! The incredible sites we visited such as the 'Great wall' and the 'Terracotta warriors' will stay in our memories forever! Our guides took us to some superb restaurants where we really enjoyed the local food. The Peking duck for me was a favourite. Your organization and that of our local guides was excellent! Our guides knowledge of the places we visited was in-depth and really added to the interest in what we were seeing. I will highly recommend your tour to other teachers at my school and friends and family back in New Zealand.

Things to improve upon:

I think when travelling with younger children we found it's better sometimes to do 1 or 2 things a day rather than try and fit everything in on the itinerary especially when it was hot and there was lot's of walking to do. I think the guides were good at realizing this and were flexible when there were things we cut out of the daily itinerary. Having a pool at the end of the day was great for tired kids.

Perhaps next time with families try and have them stay not underneath the bar on the boat as it got a bit noisy. Although the people on the boat were really good when we said something about this on the first night. We also thought there could have been a bit more for children to do on the boat and we put that in our comments at the end of the trip.

That's all I can really think of as there was not really anything wrong with the trip. Thanks again Johnson, let me know if you want me to add any more detail in recommending the trip to others.

Today was a gastromical delight. The local cuisine at Longji is 5*. The highlight was seeing our vegetables being picked in the garden and then cooked for us. The taste was unbelievable and the icing on the cake a bottle of Portuguese wine. The local wine is great too, more a desert wine. I'm in heaven.

Today had many highlights, visiting the Yao village, where women have hair over 1 meter long, seeing the amazing Reed Flute caves, seeing the sun and moon pagodas and of course my birthday. Its been a wonderful day. Thanks to all who made it so special and for all the birthday wishes. I am so blessed.

Our trip to Guilin was amazing. Alice was a wonderful guide. The only downside was the attitude of the staff at the Armari hotel. They seemed a little uneasy as we were foreigners and even wanted a covid test. Alice handled the situation very well though. The hotel room and facilities were great.

I would give a rating of 5 for the hotel room, facilities and location but 3 for customer service.

Yangtze River Cruise: Its been a great trip.

What better way to finish a holiday than a cruise on the Yangtze river. The staff on the Century Paragon ship made it a journey to remember.

Our final trip before returning home. The three gorges dam, magnificent and powerful.

EVerything was on time, on schedule, there were no troubles at all. We cold relax and just follow the agenda. Even though we had only 4 foregners on the ship, everything was duplicated in English for us - all the excursions, all the announcemenst, all the notices - the stuff was taking really good care of us. I really can not think even of 1 complaint. The views were just breathtaking, we took so many pictures! We will definetely do it again in autumn - winter, and probably for a longer period. You also were very helpful and made our choice and booking very easy and without trouble. Thank you a lot! I already recommended this trip to my all friends an colleagues.

we had a wonderful trip and are very happy altogether. Everything worked out very well.

In Zhangjiajie we were a little bit unlucky with the weather (no one can change that) and with the masses travelling (also something that cannot be changed). Because of the latter I am very glad that you suggested to visit the Gorge on arrival day already, we would never have made it on the second day (and it would have been in pouring rain).

The river cruise was excellent; although it being pretty expensive we most certainly appreciated the special treatment we received due to booking “executive”.

So I have already recommended this trip to colleagues and friends.

I took so many good pictures during my trip from Chongqing to Yichang. Now i realized why so many famous chinese poems produced from the 3 gorges area. The vibe and the scenery of this place has unusual beauty which create big stream of idea for everybody who stay here.

The Victoria Jenna was great! The facilities were better than expected, the food was good and the staff were very friendly! We ended up upgrading our rooms when we boarded because the offer not too bad for a much bigger room. The itinerary I felt was a tad too much as we were expecting a more leisurely time; it felt like the cruise was trying too hard to fill every last minute with something to do (from 6:30am)! 

In terms of excursions, the Three Kingdoms show was the best, the Shuanggui Hill was not worth it, we didn't bother joining the White Emperor City, the cruise through Gorges had nice views with good commentary, the Godess Stream was also below par, and the ship lift at the Three Gorges Dam was interesting, but not the short tour afterwards.

The so called "captain's farewell banquet" was really just dinner with the captain and crew saying a few words at the start. You should remove any references to dress codes because it wasn't necessary nor suitable.

Overall, it was worth doing it and we're glad we did it with Victoria cruises. The Jenna was refitted in 2018, which is one of the oldest to having a redecoration, so I'm wondering what the newer ones that got refitted in 2019 and 2020 would be like!

It was a great tour! The staff on the boat were so nice and helpful! The accommodations were excellent. The food was so good. If I had one complaint it would just be how rushed everything is when you visit things off the boat. I understand why and know there is a busy schedule but it was so rushed to me. Sorry it took so long to answer. I had no mobile data all day.

The only place I felt it was really crowded was at the fungdu ghost city. Everywhere else had people but not too bad at all for China.

I saw some places were really busy. I heard a lot of people are traveling again. I have a lot of friends who have shown some interest in my cruise. The cruise changed a lot compared to my first time. I think major influences are the changing environment if Yangtze, different program, and much less foreigners. You might know that foreigners usually enjoy different programs with more physical activity (more hiking than shopping) and enjoy are more silent surrounding. So let’s say this cruise is probably meanwhile more for Chinese nationals than expats/foreigners but most important is I could see the changes of Yangtze over the last more than 10 years and we also found some new friends.

I want to especially thank you for the great service you provided, the super quick feedback and always checking in with me. It’s exceptional and you have my deepest thanks for that. Do you/your agency also offer other trips? Would be glad to find more cooperation.

The cruise was great, the scenery of the three gorges is really stunning.

Staff was very kind and caring, I was very amazed by that especially cruise manager Vincent Yi. They kept making announcements in english eventhough we were only 2 non-chinese speakers onboard... That was great service!

The mood and style of the cruising company is definitely chinese as you advised me at the really beginning when you better advertised Century for foreigners... But everything remains very enjoyable. Even food was always provided with simple western dishes as pizza/pasta and toasts breads.

We have arrived in Sanya and are on the way to our resort.  Thank you for arranging the very helpful guide and driver this morning. They were professional and prompt.

I must tell you, the cruise was amazing!  I have never felt so much like a queen as I did on the cruise.  The staff was unbelievable, the accommodations were excellent by my western-standards, and the activities were splendid! Nobody wanted to leave the cruise!!  

The two boys enjoyed the unlimited “mocktails” drink package and flying kites on the sundeck.  The two girls enjoyed the “mocktails” and the variety of relaxing spaces on the ship.  Sometimes they wanted to relax in the Executive Lounge, sometimes they wanted to do karaoke.  It was wonderful that the children had easy access to any place in board that they might have an interest.

As you know, we already recommended you to my friend Sylbeth. We will continue to recommend your services.  If we have time for one more vacation before leaving China, we will definitely arrange it through you.

I had a good time once I upgraded my room. The room I had was a futon like bed that I would’ve had difficulty getting up from, barely any outlets and a too small shower. Also, the food in the main dining room was just okay. We ate in the VIP room the last night which the food was much better but it should be served as the regular food. The excursions were good. The staff was amazing. They checked in on us regularly and made sure we had English guides when leaving the boat. They took great care of us.

We had an very good tour in Chongqing and on The Victoria Sabrina. The cruise company did an excellent job.  The cabin was very nice, the food was very good, and the staff took great care of us.  We were the only two westerners on the boat, and all the staff made sure we were comfortable at all times. The even arranged for a private rout guide for the two of us at one of the sites.

I don't know about the other cruise companies, but the staff on the Victoria Sabrina speak very good to fluent English, which made it very easy for us.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, this has been a busy week! Sylvie and I had a great trip and we agreed the service was excellent. On the boat, all the crew were very helpful, especially Momo and Billy. We really appreciated how well everyone looked after us. The guides we had on the boat and in Zhangjiajie had great English. We really liked that David in Zhangjiajie looked at the weather forcasts to decide what would be the best activity for the day. He knew a lot of less visited areas, which made for a more relaxing and enjoyable visit, even when the park was more crowded. The driver was one of the best I've had in China, though we did have to wait around for him to arrive sometimes. I don't know how much control you have over the boat,but there are a couple suggestions I have.

-On the excursions, it would be helpful to have a translated document of some of the important information about the place. I don't expect an entire spoken translation of everything that is being said, but it would have been nice to have more information at the dam and on the 3 Gorges boat ride, as there was a lot being said in Mandarian and most of it wasn't translated. Just a simple handout, even just using something like Google Translate, would have been nice.

-There were a couple of times another boat docked directly next to ours, which made it impossible to use the balcony or really relax in the room because our "neighbors" were too close and too loud. That's all I can really think of now. Like I said, the service we received was excellent and I would definitely recommend the trip to others. Thanks again!
